The Herbert A. Littleton Detachment 1261 of the Marine Corps League meets
at 6:30 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the American Legion
Hall located in Veterans Memorial Park Acorn, Arkansas.
The Detachment is named after PFC Herbert A.
Littleton a Marine, born in Mena Arkansas, that was posthumously awarded
the Medal of Honor for selfless actions in the Korean Conflict.
The League is a veteran's organization of the U.S. Marines. It is composed
of Marines and former Marines with honorable service. Our aim is to perpetuate
the traditions and spirit of the U.S. Marine Corps through the continuous
association of Marines who served under the Eagle, Globe and Anchor at
any time, in war or peace.
The only membership qualification to be a member of Herbert A. Littleton
Detatchment 1261 is honorable service in excess of 90 days in the Marines
or as a FMF Corpsman. All active duty Marines or honorably discharged
Marines are welcome and encouraged to join.
Some of our current projects are the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots,
assisting the Salvation Army with fundraising efforts, our food consession
booth at the annual Lum and Abner Days, the annual Marine Corps Birthday
Ball, and installation and dedication of the Herbert A. Littleton Memorial
at the Polk County Courthouse.
